Rig Mechanic Opportunity

Brunel Australasia is seeking experienced Rig Mechanics to work in QLD and SA. This is a FIFO role on a 3x3 roster.

As a Rig Mechanic with Brunel, you will have the opportunity to enter the oil and gas drilling industry with a major Australian company. This contract-based role will commence immediately, offering an exciting chance to join a leading international drilling company.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the preventive, routine, and non-routine maintenance of land drilling rigs, as well as the repair of internal combustion engines, pumps, compressors, and drilling-related equipment. Key responsibilities include:
  • Ensuring adherence to all company policies, procedures, and government regulations pertaining to the worksite.
  • Rig mechanical maintenance, including troubleshooting and preventative maintenance.
  • Maintaining all company paperwork in a neat, timely, and orderly fashion.
  • Pre-planning operational needs, organizing equipment and supplies, and conducting testing of systems as required.
  • Promptly reporting all accidents, near-miss accidents, non-conformances, and safety hazards to their immediate superior.
  • Ensuring familiarity with all applicable work and safety procedures and promoting their implementation.
  • Ensuring that before any maintenance activity is started, a JSA and lock-out have been installed, and the "work permit" has been signed.
  • Adhering to all company policies, procedures, and government safety regulations pertaining to the worksite.
  • Training junior members of the staff to service and repair mechanical equipment to assist with their development.
  • Ensuring all employees are working safely and are aware of any potential hazards.
  • Maintaining good housekeeping and safety practices in their working areas.
  • Being able to work outdoors in all seasons and responding to call-outs 24 hours.


In addition to the above responsibilities, the successful candidate will also ensure the Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) are serviced and managed in accordance with OEM guidelines.

Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must hold a valid Heavy Equipment Mechanic Journeyman's certification or country-specific equivalent. Additionally, they must possess a valid Heavy Mechanical Trade Certificate (Diesel) and have a valid passport, open manual driver's license, and be willing to travel. Additional certificates such as Drilling and Completions General Induction (DCGI) or Industry Safety Induction (ISI), First Response to Fire, Operate Breathing Apparatus, Apply First Aid (including CPR), Enter and Work in Confined Spaces, Gas Test Atmospheres, Working at Heights, Gotcha Kit, and Operate vehicles in the field - 4WD are highly desirable.
