Join Our Team as a Family Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Family Support Specialist to join our Secondary Family Support team in Brisbane. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering our vision of a better world for children.

About the Role

This part-time (9 day fortnight), maximum term role (through to end of December 2024, with potential for extension) offers the opportunity to work with families and children, providing Case Management services with the aim of achieving positive and sustainable long-term change.

Key Responsibilities
  • Use a Case Management Framework to address any identified barriers families may be facing in the areas of housing, parenting capacity, community supports, education and child development
  • Develop rapport and positive working relationships with family members in line with our practice frameworks, specifically our Cultural Framework and Child iview and Child Protection Practice Framework
  • Use a strengths-based, trauma-informed and child-centered approach to develop case management goals and support families to work toward these goals, making referrals to other services where appropriate

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology or another relevant Human Services Degree, or significant equivalent experience
  • Experience working with families, children and young people
  • Experience providing case management to people of diverse backgrounds, including children and young people
  • Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
  • Current Driver's Licence
