Dementia Consultant Job

A highly rewarding opportunity has arisen for a skilled Dementia professional to join our team as a Consultant. As a key member of our Dementia Support Australia program, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional support to individuals living with dementia and their families.

The ideal candidate will possess experience supporting people living with dementia, a person-centred approach to care, and a genuine commitment to empowering others to make a positive impact. A relevant qualification in Allied Health, Nursing, Aged Care or Mental Health is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support families, caregivers and clinical staff to understand how dementia impacts each individual.
  • Equip carers and clinicians to prevent and respond to behaviour changes through modelling, coaching, and development of resources including behaviour support planning.
  • Be able to synthesise information, through observation and written documentation to provide recommendations that are relationship centred and informed by evidence based best practice.
Requirements:
  • Experience supporting older people, ideally within Australian residential and/or community aged care settings, including an understanding of the unique needs of older people in regional and remote areas.
  • High level of negotiation, communication and relationship building skills.
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
