The Defence Vehicle Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing maintenance tasks on a variety of Defence vehicle platforms, including the Rheinmetall transportation fleet and armoured fighting vehicles.
About the RoleThis is a permanent opportunity to join Ventia's team at Lavarack Barracks in Townsville. As a Heavy Diesel Mechanic, you will work on technical inspections and classifications, fitting and operating special test equipment, and repairing or replacing worn or faulty parts.
Responsibilities- Conducting maintenance tasks, including technical inspection and classifications
- Fitting and operating special test equipment, and test-drive vehicles
- Repairing or replacing worn or faulty parts by removing assemblies such as engines, transmissions, differentials, or steering gear
- Carrying out minor body repairs and minor trim repairs
- Diagnosing, repair and replace engine management and fuel injection components
- Testing and repairing electrical systems such as lighting, instrumentation, ignition, and electronic fuel injection
- Cert III Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent
- A current Australian State or Territory open driver's licence for Medium Rigid (MR) or Heavy Rigid (HR) classes of vehicles highly desirable
- Possess the demonstrated ability and practical experience to inspect, repair and maintain earth moving equipment and/or military armoured vehicles highly desirable
- Demonstrated ability to inspect, repair and maintain light, medium, and heavy transportation vehicles
- Open and clear communication within a team environment
- A competitive salary of $90,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience
- Permanent position with great job stability
- Excellent work/life balance, flexible working arrangements with the ability to elect for paid overtime

- 17.5% Annual leave loading
