Dairy Cattle Farm Operator Job Description

The Dairy Cattle Farm Operator plays a pivotal role in the success of our farming operations. This position involves the operation and maintenance of milking plant and equipment, ensuring that high-quality milk production is achieved.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Operating and maintaining milking plant and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  2. Identifying and reporting any issues with equipment not operating normally.
  3. Working collaboratively as part of a team to achieve common goals.
  4. Reading and recording instrument information, such as milk vat temperatures and cow numbers.
  5. Understanding and applying principles of safe working practices.
  6. Undertaking multiple functions to produce quality outcomes, including farm machinery operation.
  7. Maintaining and repairing machinery, making adjustments and size changes as required.
  8. Solving problems and making decisions within given guidelines.
  9. Providing assistance with processes such as machine repair, artificial insemination, and fertiliser mix design using general scientific terminology.
  10. Operating standard measuring equipment.
  11. Operating computerised systems using menu options.
  12. Contributing to the team in a specific role, providing input and assisting other team members.
  13. Working at times without supervision.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • AQF certificate II or III in Agriculture (or equivalent).
  • At least one year of recent and relevant work experience.

This is a full-time position which may involve weekend or public holiday work and some unplanned hours, paid accordingly. The salary package includes a comprehensive salary from $68,864 pa (plus superannuation).
