Project Estimator Role Overview:

The Project Estimator supports the Senior Management Team in delivering projects and contributing to overall business activities. This position requires aligning with the business vision and philosophies at all times.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop high-level, conceptual cost estimates for clients to assist with project feasibility and budget planning.
  • Measure and calculate quantities of materials, labor, and equipment required for projects accurately.
  • Lead single or multiple projects with senior leadership teams.
  • Collaborate effectively within teams and build strong relationships.
  • Contribute to team efforts and individual tasks.
  • Coordinate discipline-specific activities, including project estimating and management plans.
  • Stay informed about company strategies.
  • Efficiently manage assigned projects, ensuring scope and detail align with proposals.
  • Apply standard practices and procedures within the organization.
  • Assist in client briefings and project delivery.
  • Contribute to project reporting and client liaison.
  • Understand and manage critical success factors in discipline-specific activities.
  • Communicate sensitive information tactfully to clients.
  • Maintain up-to-date best practice documentation.
  • Comply with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Manage time proactively and demonstrate reliability.
  • Achieve time, cost, and quality targets under direction.
  • Exhibit cost-consciousness in project management.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Project Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in estimation is highly regarded.
  • Skilled in discipline-specific IT software (e.g., Cost X, Mud Shark, Expert Estimation, MS Project, Primavera P6).
  • Passionate about the role with a desire to grow within the organization.
  • Student membership or professional registration with relevant bodies (e.g., Engineers Australia, AIQS, RICS).
  • High integrity with confidentiality regarding company and client information.
  • Thorough knowledge of organizational project types.
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, and proactive.
  • Positive, 'can-do' attitude.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Self-motivated with efficient job performance capabilities.
