Job Title: Structural Mechanical and Piping Estimator

About the Role:

LGM Industries is seeking a skilled Structural, Mechanical, and Piping (SMP) Estimator to join our tendering team. As an SMP Estimator, you will play a crucial role in driving the success of our tendering department by developing detailed cost estimates for fixed plant, structural steel, mechanical, and piping systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed cost estimates for fixed plant, structural steel, mechanical, and piping systems.
  • Quantify materials required for all components of each tender submission.
  • Complete cost estimates and schedules for workshop fabrication and site construction.
  • Compile comprehensive tender documentation, adhering to company standards and client specifications.
  • Analyse SMP designs, drawings, plans, and models to accurately assess project scope and project constraints.
  • Identify potential risks associated with each submission.
  • Review and interpret tender documentation at all levels.
  • Understand contractual management and obligations.
  • Sourcing and liaising with suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • Coordinating site visits and meetings with clients.
  • Participate in post-tender negotiations.

About You:

  • Trade or engineering background preferred.
  • Strong understanding of structural mechanical and piping systems and configurations.
  • Minimum five (5) years' experience servicing the industrial and/or resource sector.
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office software, especially MS Excel and MS Project.
  • Desired experience with Primavera P6.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a professional demeanour.
  • High level of technical knowledge and meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in material quantity and costs.
  • Knowledge or understanding of project management principles.
  • Highly self-motivated with the initiative to work efficiently without supervision.
  • Knowledge of tank construction advantageous.
  • High level of business acumen and professionalism.
