About Queensland Fire and Emergency Services
As an emergency service agency, QFES is responsible for ensuring the safety of people and property across Queensland through effective prevention, preparation, response, and recovery activities in emergency situations. Comprising the Fire and Rescue Service, the Rural Fire Service, and the State Emergency Service, QFES also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.
QFES operates as a single entity in Australia, delivering high-quality fire, rescue, emergency, and disaster management services. This collaborative approach improves safety outcomes for the community by working with stakeholders.
Purpose of the Role
The role of Auxiliary Firefighter requires responding to emergencies and contributing to community education activities to promote safety and preparedness. As part of the team, you will develop competencies through regular drills and training courses provided by QFES to ensure effectiveness on the fire ground.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to fire and emergency incidents, noting that Auxiliary Firefighters may not attend all activities if they have not completed pre-operational aspects of ARTEP (FFGC085).
- Contribute to community education activities promoting emergency preparedness and safety.
- Develop and maintain competencies through participation in regular drills and relevant training courses.
- Maintain required attendance standards for emergency incidents and training.
- Operate firefighting equipment safely and effectively.
- Contribute to station upkeep, hygiene, and maintenance of operational equipment and facilities.
- Assist with incident reporting and general station administration.

Educational Background
Australian Permanent Resident Status is a requirement for this position. Additionally, applicants should hold a Manual C Class driver's license and obtain an MRV license within 12 months of employment.
Estimated Salary Range
The estimated salary for this role ranges between AU$60,000 - AU$80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
