Disaster Risk Analysis Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Disaster Risk Analysis Specialist to join our research team and contribute to shaping how we evaluate and manage disaster risk globally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate catastrophe models from external vendors using internal processes and protocols.
  • Conduct in-depth research and development projects on disaster and climate risk, integrating findings into modeling processes.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners on global projects, ensuring seamless integration of research findings.
  • Analyse model components to assess their appropriateness and impact.
  • Present findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders, including divisional teams.
  • Support ad hoc tasks such as disaster event response and data analysis.

About You

You're a strategic thinker with a strong technical foundation and a passion for solving complex problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Natural Hazards, Geophysics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in catastrophe modeling tools (e.g. RMS, AIR) and programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL.
  • Demonstrated experience in catastrophe modeling, risk analysis, or a related field.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical findings to diverse audiences.
  • Curiosity and initiative to explore model assumptions and challenge vendor methodologies.
