Disability Support Role

The Disability Support Worker is a vital member of our team, providing essential assistance and support to individuals with disabilities. This role is focused on empowering clients to achieve greater independence and engagement within their communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Personal Care: Assist clients with daily living tasks such as toileting, showering, dressing, grooming, and mobility, using specialized equipment and supporting physical therapy exercises.
  • Assisting Daily Living Tasks: Help clients with meal preparation, house cleaning, laundry, and grocery shopping.
  • Supporting Social and Recreational Activities: Enable clients to participate in social and recreational activities such as attending events, engaging in sports or hobbies, and accompanying clients to medical appointments or other outings.
  • Transportation: Facilitate transportation for clients, including driving them to appointments or offering guidance on using public transportation.
  • Health-Related Support: Assist clients in managing their health, monitoring health conditions, and providing basic medical care.
  • Emotional Support: Offer emotional support by actively listening to clients' concerns and fostering a safe and supportive environment.
  • Independent Living: Provide training and support to help clients develop independent living skills such as cooking, cleaning, and financial management.
  • Medication Administration: Administer medication or assist clients in managing their medication following established procedures and client rights policies.
  • Maintaining Documentation: Accurately maintain records, including daily logs, health records, and incident reports.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor clients' health and report any changes or concerns to healthcare professionals.
  • Collaborating with Professionals: Work closely with healthcare professionals, such as doctors, nurses, and therapists, to ensure the best care for clients.
  • Training & Development: Participate in a team environment through open communication, engagement in staff meetings, planning processes, and policy review, and identify ongoing training and support opportunities.
  • Safety and Quality: Ensure the safety of clients, identifying and addressing potential hazards, and responding to emergencies.
  • Education and Employment: Assist clients in pursuing educational and employment opportunities.
