About the Role

As a Senior Audit Manager at Commonwealth Bank of Australia, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the bank's Artificial Intelligence and model risk management practices are robust and compliant with regulatory requirements.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced professional to lead our model governance efforts. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience in developing, validating, and reviewing models, as well as a strong understanding of Artificial Intelligence and model risk management.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for:

  • Active management of reviews assessing Artificial Intelligence models and traditional models for accuracy, performance, regulatory compliance, and alignment with bank policies and risk appetite.
  • Identifying and evaluating model risks related to data, robustness, biases; ensuring compliance.
  • Designing and executing validation testing to challenge model assumptions and outcomes.
  • Ensuring audit activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Collaborating with model developers and business teams to build a risk-aware culture and provide guidance.
  • Delivering pragmatic insights, findings, and improvement recommendations to stakeholders and governance committees.
  • Maintaining relationships with leadership and regulators to progress strategic model governance.
  • Advising senior leadership on emerging AI risks and how to manage them.

  • Hands-on experience in developing, validating, and reviewing models.
  • Academic background in quantitative fields like engineering, mathematics, or quantitative finance.
  • Strong understanding of the landscape of Artificial Intelligence and model risk management, including local and international regulations.
  • Proven leadership managing audit teams and projects with model governance focus.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to assess model risks.
  • Ability to simplify complex model concepts and effectively communicate insights.
  • Strong project execution skills to deliver across competing priorities.
  • Relationship management skills to collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering, finance, or an equivalent business-related discipline.
What We Offer

The estimated annual salary for this role is around $180,000 - $220,000, depending on location and experience.
