Job Overview

This is a Fixed Term Postgraduate Fellow position. The successful applicant will work up to 0.5 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) in a 12-month fixed term appointment.

The role will commence in the 2026 Clinical Year within the Department of Renal and Transplantation Medicine at Westmead Hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate sound clinical knowledge in nephrology, dialysis and renal transplantation through successful clinical practice.
  • Familiarity with research concepts and a commitment to support basic, applied or clinical research within the Department.
Essential Requirements
  • Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP).
  • Skillful clinical knowledge in Renal Medicine, Kidney, Kidney pancreas and Islet Transplantation demonstrated through clinical practice.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Extensive clinical experience in managing complex chronic kidney disease, dialysis and transplant patients.
  • Commitment to teaching and mentoring junior medical staff.
  • Commitment to clinical and/or basic science research in nephrology and transplantation.
Selection Criteria
  • Outline how you satisfy the selection criteria by addressing the listed skills, knowledge, qualifications and experience.
  • Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP).
  • Sound clinical knowledge in nephrology and renal transplantation and kidney pancreas transplantation demonstrated through clinical practice.
  • Demonstrate senior medical practitioner attributes: high-level interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work within a multidisciplinary team; experience in quality assurance activities and evidence-based practice; commitment to teaching and supervision.
  • Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied or clinical research within the Department.
  • Experience in caring for renal transplant and dialysis patients in acute and chronic settings.
  • Experience in managing renal transplant immunosuppression in acute and chronic settings.
  • Familiarity with diagnosis and treatment of complications following kidney transplantation, CKD and dialysis patients.
