The Client Engagement Officer plays a vital role in supporting the engagement of Stolen Generation members and their families to access the Congress Link-Up Service. This involves client liaison and cultural brokerage, as well as consulting, planning, and organizing events and activities with and for members to assist in healing.
The Congress Link-Up Service is an integral part of Congress' Youth and Family Services Section, providing family tracing, reunion, and counseling services to the Stolen Generations. This service aims to reunite members with their families, communities, traditional country, and culture.
Congress provides a comprehensive primary health care service to Aboriginal people in Alice Springs and nearby remote communities.
Key Responsibilities- Support the engagement of Stolen Generation members and their families to access the Congress Link-Up Service
- Client liaison and cultural brokerage
- Consulting, planning, and organizing events and activities with and for members to assist in healing
- Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders
- Competently use computer software, especially word processing, data inputting, and compilation of presentations
- Awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and demonstrated understanding of the history and effects of the forcible removal of Aboriginal children from their families and communities
- Identifies as an Aboriginal person, recognized and accepted as an Aboriginal person by the Aboriginal community
- Minimum certificate IV qualifications or proven experience in one or more of the following areas - family support, education, or health, and willingness to undertake further training
- Good communication skills, including written and verbal presentation skills, and the ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal people
- Current Drivers Licence
