Casual Field Educator

Excelsia College is seeking a Casual Field Educator to provide specialized support to students undertaking field education components of study.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide quality, value-added education that fosters students' ability to integrate theory to practice, critically reflect, understand and respond to diverse needs and situations, and to practice creatively.
  • Monitor student professional development and academic performance throughout the placement.
Selection Criteria

Qualifications and Professional Standing
  • Eligible for full membership of the AASW with a minimum two years full-time post-qualifying practice experience.
Essential
  • An understanding of current and emerging trends in Social Work and training.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with colleagues from diverse cultural, religious, gender and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • A keen awareness of issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and communities in various contexts, and support student learning and engagement with these diverse populations.
  • Technological literacy and experience in developing online communication tools and previous experience in online education is desirable.
  • Evidence of a capacity to contribute to effective administration.
Field Education Liaison Officers

Primary responsibilities include:

  • To provide general oversight of the field education placement.
  • To consult with the Field Education Coordinator and student/s about placement structure, learning goals and assessment processes.
  • To provide support for students undertaking field education components of study which evaluates students' ability to integrate theory to practice, critically reflect, understand and respond to diverse needs and situations, and to practice creatively.

Qualifications and Professional Standing

  • Clinical or practical supervision experience.
Essential

  • Willingness to travel to placement sites mid-term and end of term to conduct placement meetings.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with colleagues from diverse cultural, religious, gender and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • A keen awareness of issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and communities in various contexts, and support student learning and engagement with these diverse populations.
  • Technological literacy and experience in developing online communication tools and previous experience in online education is desirable.
