Job Title: Payroll Officer

Overview

We are seeking a detail-driven and experienced Payroll Officer to join our team on a 12-month contract. This role will involve managing end-to-end payroll processing using Chris21, onboard new starters and process employee terminations, monitor and respond to queries in the payroll inbox, ensure compliance with awards, agreements, and legislation, support the team during periods of leave, and enable process improvements by taking on key operational tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Payroll Processing: Manage end-to-end payroll processing using Chris21, including data entry, calculation, and payment processing.
  2. New Starter Onboarding: Onboard new employees, including completing paperwork, setting up systems, and providing induction training.
  3. Employee Termination: Process employee terminations, including final payrolls, superannuation, and other related tasks.
  4. Query Management: Monitor and respond to queries in the payroll inbox, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
  5. Compliance: Ensure compliance with awards, agreements, and legislation, including regular reviews and updates.
  6. Team Support: Support the team during periods of leave, ensuring continuity and minimizing disruption.
  7. Process Improvement: Enable process improvements by taking on key operational tasks, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing changes.
Requirements
  • Chris21 Experience: Hands-on experience with Chris21 is essential for this role.
  • Previous Payroll Experience: Previous payroll experience in a medium to large organization is required.
  • Attention to Detail: High attention to detail with strong organizational skills is necessary for this role.
  • Awards and Legislation: The ability to interpret and apply awards, agreements, and legislation is essential.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and customer service skills are required, including being approachable and responsive.
  • Collaboration: A collaborative, team-focused approach with a continuous improvement mindset is necessary for success in this role.
