Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist Team Lead to lead our efforts in developing an AI-driven growth strategy. This role will be instrumental in shaping the technical roadmap for our Growth Supergroup, leading the development of new capabilities that support scalable growth.

In this position, you will play a critical role in advancing Canva's AI-driven data strategy by partnering closely with leadership across data, product, and machine learning teams. You will work with cutting-edge technologies like GraphDBs, Snowflake, and AI-powered systems to ensure we are at the forefront of data science and innovation.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in SQL, experience with large datasets, and hands-on experience with integrating AI solutions into data analytics workflows. A strong understanding of subscription-based business models and collaborative product data sets is also essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor Growth analytics engineers, driving platform-level innovations and elevating technical skills across the team.
  • Design and test new capabilities, exploring the value and scalability across Canva, and drive the adoption of new technologies like GraphDBs and AI-enhanced data models.
  • Collaborate with Machine Learning Engineers to develop a sustainable and scalable personalization framework and integrate AI-driven capabilities, such as OpenAI, to streamline experiment reporting and impact analysis.
Requirements:
  • Advanced SQL Competency: Expert-level skills in SQL, with experience in data warehousing solutions like Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery.
  • Ai and Machine Learning Knowledge: Good understanding of how AI/ML can be integrated into data platforms to improve personalization, automation, and reporting.
  • Strong Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts and collaborate with non-technical stakeholders effectively.
