Job Role

Mental Health Clinician role involves working as part of a 24/7 rotating roster, providing telephone triage and community-based assessment and risk management of consumers with mental health concerns.


This position requires individuals to work across the Acute Care Team and the State-Wide Mental Health Telephone Access Line (SMHTAL).


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide point of care and contact for mental health consumers in the community.
  • Work collaboratively across teams to enhance service delivery.

Selection Criteria
  • Social Worker or Occupational Therapist qualifications, current full registration with AHPRA, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer. Registered Nurse with current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. Psychologist with a four year degree in psychology and registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA).
  • Demonstrated core competency skills in Mental Health and Drug & Alcohol interventions in the community.
  • Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to engage with patients/clients to enhance service delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience working with people with an acute mental illness or disorder as well as problems associated with significant drug and alcohol use.

Requirements
  • Ability to work independently and exercise professional judgement on routine matters.
  • Demonstrated computer skills and the capacity to use health information systems.
  • Commitment to quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and ongoing clinical and professional learning.
  • Current unrestricted NSW Driver's Licence.
