Job Description
The Activities Assistant role is a vital part of our team, responsible for enabling service users to participate in recreational and social activities of their choice. This may include arts and crafts, music therapy, sports, or other hobbies that promote independence, confidence, and self-expression.
As an Activities Assistant, you will work closely with healthcare assistants and therapists to ensure that cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and functional needs are addressed. You will facilitate service users in their chosen activities, promoting their rights and choices while acknowledging their beliefs and preferences.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualised activity plans.
- Facilitating safe and enjoyable experiences for service users, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.
- Maintaining accurate records of service user participation and progress.
- Providing regular feedback and updates to the team on service user achievements and challenges.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A Level 2 qualification in care or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with service users, families, and colleagues.
- Able to work flexibly within a fast-paced environment, prioritising tasks and managing competing demands.
- Knowledge of health and social care policies and procedures, including safeguarding and data protection.
- A passion for supporting people with brain injuries and a commitment to promoting independence and inclusion.
