Activities Assistant

Salary: £11.44 per hour

Hours: 37.5

Our assessment centres, rehabilitation units and hospitals use expert neurorehabilitation to support people to regain the skills they have lost. We treat people with a range of brain injuries – sustained through trauma, illness, substance abuse and more – to recover and meet their personal goals. MAIN PURPOSE:

To enable service users to take part in recreational and social activities of their choice, encouraging independent choice.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Working with healthcare assistants and therapists to ensure cognitive, social, emotional, physical and functional needs are addressed.
2. Responsible to facilitate service users in their chosen activities and to enable service users to deal with self-care deficits as appropriate.
3. Responsible to ensure that the service users' individual rights and choices are actively promoted and supported, and their beliefs and preferences appropriately acknowledged.
4. Monitoring the physical and emotional well-being of all service users in order to be aware of changes and to alert senior colleagues as necessary. Assisting in maintaining morale of service users by communication and contact – achieved by talking and working with them.
5. Facilitating the safe and smooth running of the Service, the post holder is expected to maintain a safe working environment, maintain service user confidentiality, and occasionally taking on reasonable additional tasks.

ABOUT YOU:

1. Level 2 in Care or other relevant subject/training is desirable.
2. Understanding of health/social care sector work.
3. Experience of working with people in a care setting or similar.
4. Skilled in interacting with all types of people.
5. Ability to develop and create a variety of interactive activities appropriate to the service user needs and wishes.
6. Ability to assess effectiveness of interventions, review and amend them as needed.
7. Proven experience of working within a team.
8. Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
9. Able to work within policies and procedures.
