Electricity Distribution Trainee

This apprenticeship program offers a unique opportunity to develop expertise in electricity distribution and become a skilled lineworker.

As an electricity distribution trainee, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and inspecting power lines, poles, and related hardware. You will also work with other utility workers, engineers, and supervisors to coordinate work assignments and ensure power infrastructure operates effectively and safely.

During the 4-year apprenticeship, you will gain hands-on experience and develop skills in tasks such as:

  • Installing overhead or underground electrical lines
  • Maintaining power lines, poles, transformers, and other components
  • Responding to outages and restoring power to affected areas
  • Troubleshooting electrical systems and making repairs

You will also have the opportunity to earn a UET30621 Certificate III in ESI – Distribution Overhead.

Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • Maths: Basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Literacy: Competent language and writing skills
Working at Heights:

Climbing utility poles and high transmission towers, or using bucket trucks to access power lines, requires adherence to strict safety procedures to prevent falls and other accidents.

You will work closely with other utility workers and teams to prioritize tasks, manage resources, and ensure the safe operation of power infrastructure.

The apprenticeship program provides regular opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge, with a focus on teamwork, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
