Job Title: Caregiver for Laboratory Animals

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day care of laboratory rodents, including cage changing, food and water provision, and daily health checks. They will also assist with weaning and sexing of animals, collection of biopsy tissues for genotyping, and perform basic manipulation techniques such as handling/restraining, injections, euthanasia.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality animal care services to support research projects
  • Maintain accurate records of animal health, treatment, and maintenance
  • Operate sterilizing equipment, autoclaves, VHP machines, and quality control measures
  • Assist with animal experiments and adhere to research protocols and standard operating procedures
  • Communicate effectively with research group staff members to ensure animal welfare and ethical standards are met


Requirements:
  • Tertiary Animal Science qualifications or equivalent experience
  • Strong understanding of animal welfare principles and commitment to providing high-quality animal care
  • Experience in handling rodents is desirable
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment and prioritize tasks under pressure
  • Basic computer skills and ability to document information accurately


Working Conditions:
  • Work in a semi-isolated environment with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work individually or as part of a team
