Community Engagement Officer Job Description

Our organization is seeking an experienced Community Engagement Officer to connect Aboriginal youth with vital mental health and wellbeing services. The successful candidate will promote social and emotional wellbeing in the community by building relationships and working collaboratively with Aboriginal communities.

This role involves spreading awareness about our services, supporting access to mental health and wellbeing resources, and organizing events to promote mental health and wellbeing.

We are looking for a motivated individual who is passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of Aboriginal young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote awareness about our services among Aboriginal young people, their families, and the community.
  • Support access to mental health and wellbeing resources for Aboriginal young people.
  • Organize and participate in events to promote mental health and wellbeing.
Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

Aboriginal descent through parentage or identification as being Aboriginal, accepted in the community as such.

Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent degree from a recognized university or college requiring a minimum of three years full-time study.

Experience building relationships and working collaboratively with Aboriginal communities.

Good understanding of the issues impacting the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal young people.

Experience or willingness to deliver youth programs, events, and activities within an Aboriginal community setting.

Current NSW drivers licence and willingness to travel to locations within the district.
