Position Overview

The Field Service Lead is tasked with managing and directing the activities of the field service team. This role is crucial in ensuring that all service operations are executed effectively, safely, and adhere to the highest quality benchmarks. The emphasis will be on daily operational matters, including resource allocation, outage planning, and the necessary tools and equipment for our tasks, as well as the strategic development and enhancement of the Field Service Specialists' technical capabilities.

This position demands extensive hands-on technical expertise in high voltage equipment, power transformers, synchronous condensers, HVDC, and FACTS, alongside strategic insight and outstanding communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

What You Bring

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated leadership experience in managing teams, projects, and budgets, particularly in Field Service operations.
  • At least 10 years of experience and understanding of the energy sector, including regulatory, environmental, and safety standards, with a focus on grid technologies and associated services.
  • A solid grasp of relevant on-site, sales, project, and back-office processes, with a willingness to challenge existing practices and implement best-in-class solutions in a diverse, multinational environment.
  • Previous experience in an engineering role or as a site/field service technical expert is advantageous.
  • An electrical license is required.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • A positive approach to working in a challenging environment.
  • An understanding of cultural differences and the ability to build strong relationships.
  • Proficiency in IT tools, including Microsoft Suite (Excel, Projects), SAP, and Salesforce applications.
  • Professional proficiency in English is required; additional languages such as Chinese or German are beneficial.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within the Asia-Pacific region and occasionally to Europe or internationally.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and oversee a team of field service technicians.
  • Delegate tasks and projects to team members based on their skills and expertise.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to review progress, address challenges, and share updates.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to field service technicians.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues on-site.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards and safety regulations for all service tasks.
  • Identify training needs and facilitate ongoing training for field service technicians.
  • Stay informed about the latest industry trends and technologies.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team.
  • Ensure all field service activities adhere to health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
  • Manage strategic business assets and resources effectively.
  • Promote a safe working environment and address safety concerns promptly.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work in various field environments, including outdoor and industrial settings.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to client sites.
  • Flexibility to work outside regular business hours, including weekends and holidays, as required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and tools.
  • Capability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Physical stamina to perform manual labor and stand for extended periods.
