Field Service Lead

Overview of the Position

The Field Service Lead plays a pivotal role in managing and directing the activities of the field service team. This position emphasizes the importance of executing service tasks with efficiency, safety, and adherence to the highest quality standards. The primary focus includes overseeing daily operations, resource allocation, planning for outages, and ensuring the availability of necessary tools and equipment. Additionally, this role is instrumental in the strategic development and enhancement of the technical capabilities of Field Service Specialists.

The ideal candidate will possess in-depth technical expertise in high voltage products, including power transformers, synchronous condensers, HVDC, and FACTS. This role requires strategic insight along with exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated leadership experience in team management, project oversight, and budget handling, particularly in Field Service operations.
  • At least 10 years of experience in the energy sector, with a strong emphasis on grid technologies and compliance with industry standards.
  • Comprehensive understanding of on-site processes, sales, project management, and back-office operations, with a proactive approach to implementing best practices.
  • Previous experience in an engineering capacity or as a field service technical expert is advantageous.
  • Valid electrical license.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • A positive mindset to thrive in challenging environments.
  • Ability to navigate cultural differences effectively to foster strong professional relationships.
  • Proficiency in IT tools, including Microsoft Suite (Excel, Project), SAP, and Salesforce.
  • Professional proficiency in English is required; knowledge of Chinese or German is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within the Asia-Pacific region and occasionally to Europe or other international locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and oversee a team of field service technicians.
  • Delegate tasks and projects to team members based on their expertise and experience.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to review progress, address challenges, and share updates.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to field service technicians.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in the field.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards and safety regulations during all service tasks.
  • Identify training needs and facilitate ongoing training for field service technicians.
  • Stay informed about the latest industry trends and technological advancements.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team.
  • Ensure all field service operations adhere to health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
  • Manage strategic business assets and resources effectively.
  • Promote a safe working environment and promptly address any safety concerns.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to work in diverse field environments, including outdoor and industrial settings.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to client locations.
  • Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours, including weekends and holidays, as necessary.

  • Physical stamina to perform manual labor and remain standing for extended periods.
