Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Legal Counsel to join our in-house legal team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing timely, high-quality, and commercially focused legal services aligned with the strategic and commercial drivers of the business.

As a Legal Counsel, you will work collaboratively with key business stakeholders to help fulfill legal, risk, and compliance obligations of the business and the Funds. You will also advise on fund development and maintenance, including establishment, consolidation, and decommissioning.

The ideal candidate will have sound knowledge of AFSL obligations, ASIC policy, and Corporations Act requirements. They should be commercially astute, able to balance legal risk and business strategy in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Advise on fund development and maintenance
  2. Manage legal risks of content of offering documents
  3. Support marketing team to ensure marketing plans and materials are compliant
  4. Manage regulatory compliance under Australian and offshore regulatory obligations
  5. Provide transactional support drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts
  6. Respond to regulatory queries and manage external counsel as required
  7. Enhance legal processes by improving precedent documents and policies, investor communications, and governance frameworks
About You:
  • 3-6 years' PQE with funds, financial services, or investment management expertise gained in a well-regarded law firm or in-house environment
  • Sound knowledge of AFSL obligations, ASIC policy, and Corporations Act requirements
  • Commercially astute, able to balance legal risk and business strategy in a fast-paced environment
