About the Role
Western Health is seeking a skilled Security Officer to join our team in providing a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors. As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the physical and emotional well-being of our patients and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide security services across our hospital sites, including Sunshine, Footscray, Williamstown, and Bacchus Marsh Hospitals.
- Interact with a diverse range of customers, demonstrating the Western Health values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence, and Safety.
- Ensure the security and safety of patients, staff, and visitors, adhering to relevant legislation and policies.
- Collaborate with nursing employees and management to achieve a safe and secure environment.
- Develop and maintain accurate and concise documentation.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
- Successful completion of the Security Guard Unarmed Guard Certificate II course.
- Victorian Private Security Individual Licence.
- A current Working with Children Check – Employee Status.
- A current Workplace First Aid Certificate.
- A current Drivers Licence.
- Current knowledge of Victorian legislation relevant to the role of a Security Officer.
- Current knowledge of emergency equipment, such as Fire Extinguishers.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A strong personal work ethic, initiative, and service orientation.
- A courteous and professional manner.
- Demonstrated skill in communicating effectively with people.
- A willingness to work under the direction of nursing employees and management.
- An ability to work as a team member in a multidisciplinary environment.
- An ability to work in a self-directed manner and prioritize workload.
- English literacy and numeracy skills in line with the competency requirements for Certificate II in Security Guarding.
- Ability to maintain accurate and concise documentation.
- A high level of physical fitness and personal presentation.
- Competence in operation of PCs and the ability to use the Outlook, Word, Excel programs.
Desirable Qualifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare environment.
- Previous experience with Security Systems (CCTV and Access Control).
- Previous experience with Emergency Equipment (Fire Panel).
- Multi-Lingual.
