About the Role

The Senior Project Engineer (Development) - Signals and Communications is a critical position within V/Line's Major Periodic Maintenance (MPM) Program. This role is responsible for executing infrastructure projects, focusing on planning and developing projects related to signals and communications assets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Management: Provide engineering and project management expertise to support the MPM Program.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Ensure compliance and develop cost-effective solutions with stakeholders.
  • Site Investigations: Coordinate surveys and inspections for accurate designs and costings.
  • Design and Technical Support: Align design works with V/Line's design management processes and provide technical advice.
  • Project Briefs and Reporting: Develop project briefs and assist in progress reporting.
  • Change and Approval Management: Comply with Safety Management of Change requirements and obtain necessary approvals.
  • Collaboration and Lessons Learned: Work with Asset Planning Engineers on project scope, budgets, and timeline and participate in lessons learned workshops.
About You

V/Line is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Engineer to support the team with managing signals and communications projects within the MPM Program. This role requires a strong focus on project development, maintaining a safe work environment, and effectively managing risks.

Requirements:
  • Comprehensive Expertise: Comprehensive expertise in railway project design and delivery, with a strong background in large-scale transport infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in Railway Signals and Communications Design: Proficiency in railway signals and communications design, including estimating and costing.
  • Extensive Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of project and program management principles, methods, and techniques.
  • Proven Ability: Proven ability to work with multiple business stakeholders within a complex matrix environment.
  • Strong Understanding: Strong understanding of Safety in Design (Si D) and compliance requirements.
  • Precision in Project Planning and Execution: Precision in project planning and execution, effective team leadership, flexibility in dynamic environments, and innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated Alignment: Demonstrated alignment to V/Line's values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership, and human rights.
Qualifications:
  • Tertiary Qualification: Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Electrical, Electronic or Communications).
  • Valid Driver's Licence: Valid Driver's Licence.
