Job Title:

Naval Architect

We are seeking a professional with expertise in Naval Architecture to join our team. As a key member of the engineering team, you will be responsible for delivering engineering services for naval ships.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in design activities such as General Arrangement, Concept Design, Weight Control, Stability, Seakeeping, Maneuvering and Ship Performance.

You will also have the ability to produce clear, well-written and well-presented reports to a high quality and standard. Additionally, you will have strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision-making skills.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide high level of engineering technical competence based on relevant experience and knowledge
  • Provide experience and broad technical knowledge of functional and detailed design related to Naval Architecture
  • Undertake technical investigations, root cause analysis and solution identification
  • Deliver technical reports and technical documentation in accordance with established standards
  • Work effectively within the broader engineering team to engage with different disciplines in the development of new naval ship system designs
  • Plan and coordinate assigned engineering projects from concept through to delivery
  • Supervise and guide team members on other projects
  • Mentor and coach more junior members of the team
  • Participate in design coordination meetings with other Engineering Teams
  • Participate in Design Review Meetings with the customer or customer's representative

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering - Naval Architect
  • Proven skills and experience in a Naval Architecture function
  • Experience in a technical and industrial Defence environment
  • Familiarity and understanding of statutory regulations and Classification and Flag state rule sets
  • Familiarity and experience of ship structural design and its application to local structure and foundations
  • Ability to produce clear, well-written and well-presented reports to a high quality and standard
  • Familiarity and experience of ship systems design and its impact upon integration
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to manage, prioritise and complete multiple tasks concurrently
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships at all levels of the business and Clients
