About the Role

The Defence Finance Group (DFG) is seeking experienced finance professionals to join the Navy Acquisitions team in Canberra, Adelaide, and Sydney. The APS 6 Finance Advisor role involves providing strategic financial advice to key clients, identifying financial risks and opportunities, and forecasting End of Financial Year achievement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Use business knowledge and financial skills to provide expert advice on Defence and Government financial matters.
  • Build and sustain effective working relationships with key clients across the Fleet and Maritime domain.
  • Coordinate financial governance requirements and promote compliance with the financial management frameworks.
  • Contribute to budget preparations, evaluation of financial performance, and general financial management across a variety of budgets and capabilities.
  • Identify financial issues and apply financial management knowledge to deliver objective and systematic analysis and conclusions.

Our embedded teams provide finance support to the Navy Head Quarter and partnered Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group. We are working towards delivering a transformation of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) to an integrated, focused force capable of safeguarding Australia's security for decades to come.

What We're Looking For
  • Enthusiastic individuals with a passion for finance/accounting work, who can operate independently under broad direction to perform and achieve complex financial management work within an integrated workforce.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that can service a variety of customers of varying financial literacy.
  • Ability to operate and produce high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated financial skills and experience to achieve outcomes and deliverables.
  • Understanding of core financial principles.
Estimated Salary Range: $80,000 - $110,000 per annum
