Senior Platform Engineer Position

The primary responsibilities of the Senior Platform Engineer include designing, building, running, and evolving tools, infrastructure, templates, and capabilities used by other engineers to deliver business value. This includes writing code that automates running our infrastructure and environments.

Your Place in Our Team

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening the scalability, reliability, and security of our platform ecosystem. You will drive the delivery of complex automation and resilience initiatives across the organisation's infrastructure – spanning both cloud and on-premises environments – to safeguard platforms, data, and digital assets.

You will operate in a DevSecOps environment, focusing on:

  • Automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Platform observability and telemetry
  • Embedded security and resilience practices

You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed resilience and optimisation throughout the engineering lifecycle, championing innovation, operational excellence, and platform integrity.

Key Requirements

  • Familiarity with the full cycle model, where engineers are involved in design, build, challenge, and run.
  • Passion for designing, developing, deploying, and running high-quality software and platforms.
  • Ability to write software and tooling that automates the operations of our platforms, infrastructure, environments, and tooling.
  • Maintenance of underlying infrastructure to ensure it is reliable, secure, and scalable.
  • Automation of observability logs and metrics, including dashboards, monitoring, and alerting.
  • Familiarity with incident management, post-incident reviews, problem management.

Tech Skills

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. Experience or exposure to some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team:

  • Full-cycle platform engineering, including design, build, challenge, and run.
  • Hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD and automation tools.
  • Previous experience in scripting/programming languages.
  • Windows/Linux Server experience.
  • Development, deployment, and management of platform services via Infrastructure as Code.
  • Experience with containerization, virtualization, and orchestration technologies – Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, AKS, etc.
  • Observability – Grafana, Prometheus.
