Sterilization Technician

The Sterilization Services Attendant plays a crucial role in ensuring the timely and efficient supply of reusable medical devices to various departments within the hospital. This position requires a strong understanding of infection control principles, reusable medical devices, and disinfection/sterilization methods.

• Contribute to the development of an integrated team approach and culture that is responsive to consumer needs.
• Undertake training as required and maintain required skills and knowledge applicable to the role.
• Reprocess reusable medical devices in accordance with AS5369:2023.
• Monitor, report, and record any malfunctions of equipment or issues of non-compliance.

• Demonstrate a sound understanding of the English language.
• Ability to interpret complex instructions and procedures.
• Experience working well as an individual or a team member in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to cooperate with staff at all levels.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and work with a wide range of people from different cultures, backgrounds, and circumstances.
• Completion of AQF Certificate 3 in Sterilization Services or equivalent and at least 560 hours satisfactory in-service experience within a sterile supply department.
