Program Overview

The AIR6500 initiative represents a significant investment in developing a comprehensive air battle management system for the RAAF, enhancing capabilities through advanced sensor technologies and command and control systems. This program aims to establish a fully integrated 'system of systems' that synchronizes air and missile defense operations, improving situational awareness and expediting decision-making processes in joint and coalition environments.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Lead Cyber Architect, you will oversee the management of cybersecurity protocols, system architecture, design, testing, and integration processes. You will advocate for best practices that facilitate informed, risk-based decisions to uphold integrity, visibility, compliance, and resilience.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Providing indirect leadership and mentorship to team members
  • Defining System Security Architectures and supervising the implementation, testing, and integration of security measures across incremental capability deliveries
  • Conducting system evaluations and offering recommendations to mitigate security risks, as well as authoring essential Security Documentation to support System Authorization
  • Developing secure solutions for contemporary container orchestration architectures and providing Subject Matter Expertise (SME) to stakeholders regarding security architecture, application security, and DevSecOps

About You:

To excel in this role, you should possess a deep understanding of cybersecurity and resilience within the defense sector, along with substantial experience in systems security engineering. Key qualifications include:

  • Practical experience and comprehensive knowledge of the Australian Government's security Assessment and Authorization (A&A) process
  • Extensive background in defining security services and design patterns, assisting development teams in their implementation
  • Proven experience in conducting and leading cyber risk assessments
  • Familiarity with cross-domain solutions and multi-level security architectures

Special Requirements:

Candidates must be Australian Citizens and possess a current or reinstatable NV1 Defence Security Clearance.
