Job Title: Mental Health Clinician

The role of a mental health clinician is to provide individualised supports and partnerships with services to achieve better life goals for clients. This involves undertaking comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, identifying and prioritising consumer and family needs, including risk assessment and management.

The clinician will be responsible for developing collaborative care plans within a recovery framework that works towards discharge from the service. They will also refer to and engage with supporting agencies such as NDIS, forensic assessment services, private psychologist and GP, and coordinate admission to the inpatient unit and actively engage with the inpatient unit to facilitate discharge planning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough biopsychosocial assessments to identify consumer and family needs.
  • Develop and implement care plans within a recovery framework.
  • Refer to and engage with supporting agencies to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Coordinate admission to the inpatient unit and facilitate discharge planning.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Current registration or eligibility with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • Approved degree or postgraduate degree from a recognised educational facility.
  • Recent clinical experience in a mental health setting including inpatient and/or community.
  • Well-developed mental health and risk assessment skills.
  • Good knowledge of the recovery model and how it informs engagement with clients and families.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and policies.
