Job Title: Operations and Supply Chain Capability Manager

This pivotal role requires a high-calibre professional to ensure the right people, skills, and systems are in place to support operational and supply chain targets.

The ideal candidate will lead the development and execution of workforce capability strategies aligned with program delivery objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategic workforce plans to address short-, medium-, and long-term resource and capability gaps.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to implement workforce capability solutions.
  • Provide leadership and direction to a team, setting clear goals and performance expectations.
  • Support effective resource prioritisation and decision-making within a constrained workforce environment.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing high-quality solutions to complex workforce challenges.

Availability for collaboration calls outside normal working hours is required. Periodic domestic and international travel may also be required on an ad hoc basis.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications and/or suitable equivalent experience relevant to operations or supply chain management supplemented with qualifications in a management discipline.
  • Membership of CIPS/ASCM or a recognised trade development organisation ideally with professional practice certification.
  • Proven leadership experience in operations, supply chain, project management, or capability development—ideally within a similar industry.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering capability development programs aligned with strategic business objectives.
  • Solid understanding of the shipbuilding or defence sector, including current industry trends, technologies, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience in coaching and evaluating competencies across diverse job families.
  • Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritise limited resources and make effective trade-offs.
  • A track record of identifying and implementing high-impact solutions to complex workforce challenges.

Eligibility:

  • This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level.
  • Eligibility for this role is dependent on obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
