Ict Cyber Security Specialist

Job Summary

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of a Cyber Security team in the Defence sector.

Main Responsibilities
  • Security Assessment and Mitigation: Assess potential vulnerabilities, propose treatment options, mitigation strategies, and articulate residual risk.
  • Certification and Accreditation: Make recommendations on system suitability for Certification, including residual risk levels, with the ICT Certification Authority.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Lead and conduct C&A activities with stakeholders, ISSEC section auditors, system owners, and other agencies.
  • Documentation and Awareness: Develop ICT awareness briefs, security procedures, and documentation, as well as business processes.
  • Security Documentation: Produce ICT security documentation in support of Defence mission systems.
  • Cyber Security Assessments: Conduct ICT Security Assessments according to ASD IRAP Assessment process and ADF specific requirements.
  • Consultation and Advice: Advise ADF mission system owners on ICT C&A requirements, as per DSPF and ISM.
Requirements
  • Australian Government Information Security Manual: Knowledge of Australian Government Information Security Manual and Protective Security Policy Framework and ISO 27001.
  • Information Security Experience: Years of direct full-time information security or cybersecurity work experience.
  • Cybersecurity Controls: Proven experience in implementing cybersecurity controls, assessing effectiveness of controls.
  • Collection and Presentation: Experience in collecting, presenting, and analysing information.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent report writing and communication skills.
  • Risk Articulation: Proven experience articulating risk associated with ICT vulnerabilities to non-technical audiences.
  • Leadership and Management: Strong communication, management, and leadership skills.
  • Adaptability: Able to work under broad direction with changing information levels.
Desirable Skills
  • Certified Information Security Manager: Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or Certified Information Security Auditor (CISA).
  • Certified Assessor: Certified assessor under the Information Security Recognised Assessor Program (IRAP) or equivalent level of demonstrated experience.
  • Defence Security Principles Framework: Strong knowledge of Defence Security Principles Framework.
