Agricultural Technician

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Agricultural Technician to join our team at Australian Country Choice. As an Agricultural Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health, nutrition, and welfare of our animals at all times.

• Receiving and inducting animals into the feedlot, ensuring a smooth transition and minimizing stress
• Monitoring animal health and taking prompt action to address any issues that may arise
• Ensuring accurate and timely recording of animal movements, treatment, and processes
• Administering medication to sick animals, in consultation with veterinary staff, to ensure the best possible outcomes
• Performing general repairs and maintenance of equipment, including the use of power tools and heavy machinery
• Operating heavy machinery, such as front-end loaders and feed trucks, to efficiently manage feed and animal movements
• Safely and effectively undertaking pen riding on horseback to monitor animal behavior and welfare
• Delivering feed to animals using modern machinery, ensuring the correct feed allocation to achieve desired finishing results

We are looking for a self-motivated and positive team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to animal welfare. You will have:

• Demonstrated experience handling cattle and managing livestock, with a strong understanding of animal behavior and welfare
• Competency to safely handle and ride horses, with a focus on minimizing risk and ensuring animal safety
• Ability to safely and efficiently operate machinery, plant, and equipment, with a strong emphasis on maintenance and upkeep
• Ability to accurately and promptly identify potential animal health issues, with a focus on proactive management and prevention
• Ability to undertake animal health procedures and safely administer treatment and medication, in consultation with veterinary staff
• Sound numeracy and literacy skills, with a strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Appreciation of quality and compliance processes, with a focus on maintaining high standards and minimizing risk
• Sound computer literacy and keyboard skills, with a strong ability to accurately record and report data
