About the Role

Cumberland City Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environmental Health Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our Environmental Health Team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Environmental Health Team, including monitoring public health-related businesses and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Regulate and monitor building compliance, fire safety, and other environmental health-related matters.
  • Provide high-level problem-solving and advice to stakeholders, including senior management and the community.
  • Supervise staff, including their professional development, performance management, and reporting against set benchmarks.
Requirements
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in environmental health or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience operating in a high-quality service-based environment.
  • Experience in budget planning and management, with a focus on robust forward planning and effective project delivery.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports and deliver presentations.
  • Experience in dealing with senior management teams and providing advice on a range of matters.
  • Proven ability to work productively as a member of a senior leadership team and contribute to the achievement of shared goals.
  • Extensive operational knowledge of legislation, including Acts, Regulations, and supporting Guidelines/Standards/Codes.
  • Class C driver's license.
