The Strategic Insights Leader plays a pivotal role in setting direction by leading the development of long-range strategy, delivering high-quality reporting, integrating performance intelligence and providing robust advice to guide decision-making.

This role brings together strategic foresight, planning, engagement and enterprise reporting into a consolidated capability that supports leadership.

The role provides a helicopter view across key strategic functions, connecting disparate data, planning and delivery activities into a unified, insight-rich narrative.

Key Responsibilities

">
  • Lead the development and integration of long-range enterprise strategy and planning frameworks
  • Deliver high-quality internal and external reporting
  • Interpret complex data and policy signals and provide system-level advice
  • Offer authoritative guidance on economic trends
  • Develop insights to inform strategic messaging and communication of vision and outcomes
  • Establish and continuously improve enterprise performance measurement and evaluation frameworks
  • Provide strategic foresight through scenario modelling and risk-informed planning
  • Steward the insight ecosystem – connecting data holders and surfacing strategic questions
  • Collaborate with internal teams and the academic community to publish research contributing to policy debate
  • Partner with agencies to ensure positioning to respond to and influence national policy agendas
  • Represent the organisation in external forums and participate in relevant communities of practice
  • Build strategic capability across the organisation by modelling analytical rigour, collaboration and clear direction
  • Lead a high-performing, multi-disciplinary team with a shared commitment to integrity, evidence-based decision-making and public service outcomes

Qualifications and Experience

">

A postgraduate qualification in economics, strategy, data science or a related field is required.

">

Demonstrated experience in public sector strategy, performance reporting or regulatory reform is also required.

">

A strong track record in senior stakeholder engagement and executive advising is necessary.

">

Demonstrated established credibility in domestic and international forums is desirable.

">

Proven capability to lead and integrate cross-functional teams in fast-paced, high-trust environments is essential.
