Environmental Artist Job Description

You will work with a global team to create photorealistic environments for feature film projects in Sydney. As an environmental artist, your role will involve designing entire galaxies, from the smallest blade of grass to vast landscapes.

Excellent communication skills are required to interact with multiple departments and colleagues worldwide. You will devise creative approaches to produce environments using Digital Matte Painting, 3D, and procedural techniques.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience in environment modelling, sculpting, texturing, layout, lighting, rendering, and digital matte painting for high-end broadcast or feature film projects.
  • Understanding of photography, artistic composition, and cinematography.
  • Thorough understanding of 3D and 2.5D VFX processes and production pipelines.
  • Proficiency in Houdini, Maya, Zbrush, Substance/Mari, SpeedTree, Gaea, and Nuke.
  • Knowledge and understanding of natural world phenomena and architecture.
  • Experience working with shoot data, HDRIs, photogrammetry, and Lidar.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Unreal Engine and real-time rendering.
  • Rendering in Houdini Solaris.
