Senior Legal Specialist

This role requires a Senior Legal Specialist to provide strategic legal guidance on governance, compliance, risk, and regulatory matters within the Community Bank model and Franchise Agreements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide advice and guidance to ensure compliance with the Franchising Code of Conduct and other statutory/regulatory obligations related to the Community Bank model.
  • Advise on obligations under franchise agreements and support governance, compliance, risk, and regulatory matters across ACCC, ASIC, APRA, AFCA, and related areas, including assets sales and acquisitions.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of the Franchising Code of Conduct (or ability to quickly learn), Corporations Law, and other statutory/regulator requirements in the Community Bank model.
  • Understanding of legislative impacts from a government perspective.
  • Demonstrated legal experience, ideally within Banking, Finance, Franchising, regulatory, or compliance sectors.
  • Knowledge of Banking, Finance and franchising governance frameworks and related regulatory bodies.
  • Ability to demonstrate broad knowledge of company structures and local company frameworks.
  • Sound knowledge of general banking practices (advantageous).
  • Strong negotiation, leadership, and influencing skills.
  • Qualified Lawyer with 7-10+ years PQE.
