Respiratory Medicine Specialist Vacancy

We are seeking a highly skilled medical practitioner to fill a temporary part-time position as a staff specialist in respiratory medicine.

  • Must be a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and/or hold other specialist recognition as provided for in the Staff Specialist (State) Award.
  • Hold recognised specialist qualifications, including Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and/or other equivalent specialist recognition.

This is a fractional staff specialist appointment with salary and conditions in accordance with the Staff Specialist (State) Award. The successful applicant will work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Appropriate experience to practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner in Respiratory Medicine.
  • Proven ability to work with community respiratory care teams.
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to lead and supervise medical and surgical trainees, residents and medical students.
  • Demonstrated interest in quality improvement methodologies.
  • Commitment to the Caring for the Coast vision, goals and strategies, with demonstrated behaviours that align to the NSW CORE Values and CCLHD Values and Behaviours charter.
  • Experience and competency in pleural procedures such as thoracic ultrasound and intercostal catheter insertion.
  • Experience and competency in bronchoscopy and EBUS.
  • Knowledge and experience in the diagnosis and management of Tuberculosis.
  • Willingness to engage in rapid respiratory review clinics.

A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution; current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA); relevant postgraduate qualification in Respiratory Medicine or equivalent; demonstrated expertise in lung function tests, sleep studies, and chest imaging techniques.
