Job Title: Strategic Indigenous Advisor

About the Role:

This position plays a vital role in providing strategic advice to senior leaders on matters related to Indigenous affairs. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of Indigenous cultures and histories, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-level strategic advice to the Deputy Director-General on Indigenous-related matters.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, and Elders, to develop and implement Indigenous policies and programs.
  • Conduct research and analysis on Indigenous issues and provide recommendations to senior leaders.
  • Prepare and review correspondence, reports, and submissions related to Indigenous affairs.
  • Consult with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to ensure that their needs and perspectives are taken into account.
Requirements:
  • Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander heritage.
  • Relevant qualifications and experience in Indigenous affairs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
