About the Opportunity

As a LGBTIQA+ Peer Recovery Worker, you will play a vital role in empowering young people from diverse backgrounds through meaningful connections and supportive relationships.

The purpose of this role is not to provide therapy or focus on suicide prevention, but rather to create a safe space for LGBTIQA+ individuals to share their experiences and connect with someone who understands their challenges.

You will be responsible for building trust and rapport with clients, facilitating open conversations, and empowering them to take control of their mental health and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with LGBTIQA+ youth and their families/carers
  • Co-create a supportive environment that fosters connection, understanding, and growth
  • Facilitate daily, weekly, and monthly data entry and file note maintenance
  • Develop and implement recovery plans, risk assessments, and referral documentation

  • A competitive salary package, including SCHADS Level 4B $43.08-$46.35 per hour + Leave loading + Super + Salary packaging up to $15,899

Requirements:

  • Identify as a member of the LGBTIQA+ community
  • Lived experience of suicidal ideation or attempt, suicide bereavement, or been a close connection to someone who has died by suicide
  • Completion of the Certificate IV in Mental Health, Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work, or equivalent practical experience working in a lived experience role

Additional Requirements:

  • Current valid Driver's License and ability to undertake travel for the role
  • Current Working with Children Check and NDIS Workers Screening Check
  • Right to Work within Australia
  • Satisfactory National Police Records Check
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and internet applications
