We are seeking a skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in designing and implementing battery energy storage systems. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile projects that will make a significant impact on the world.
- Spearhead the design of grid-scale battery energy storage systems, developing conceptual layouts and one-line diagrams, and supporting detailed design through the completion of Issue For Construction design packages.
- Evaluate and analyze various energy storage technologies, products, and vendors, providing expert advice to clients on technology and vendor selection and implementation.
- Support microgrid and distributed energy resources projects by creating detailed electrical engineering designs.
- Develop and review comprehensive engineering design plans, technical specifications, cost estimates, and construction documents at various design milestones for BESS projects.
- Collaborate with developers, utilities, and other clients to identify, define, and implement use-cases for battery energy storage systems in both centralized and distributed locations.
- Prepare written technical reports effectively conveying battery energy storage concepts, use-cases, and feasibility study results to diverse audiences.
- Closely coordinate with civil, structural, fire & life safety, high-voltage electrical, SCADA/telecommunications, water, and geotechnical engineers to create complete Issue For Construction design packages for BESS projects.
- Participate in design reviews with stakeholders including governing and permitting agencies.
- Contribute to the development and updates of internal design guidelines, catalogs, and templates for battery energy storage projects.
- Ensure quality assurance/quality control of the work of other electrical engineers, electrical designers, or technicians.
- Provide technical support during the construction phase, addressing bid addenda, submittal reviews, Requests for Information (RFI), Construction Progress Reports (CPR), and change orders as needed.
- Engage with clients, contractors, and vendors to support business development and project execution.
- Coordinate project workload to deliver documents on schedule.
- Mentor junior team members.
- Offer technical assistance to HDR's team and clients.

Requirements:
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on battery energy storage systems.
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, circuit analysis, and power systems.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in CAD software, such as Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks.
