We are seeking an experienced Aerodynamics Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in aerodynamic and aerothermal analysis, as well as experience with engineering models, simulations, and wind-tunnel testing.
Aerodynamics engineers play a crucial role in predicting aerodynamics and aerothermal environments for booster and ship during missions. They work closely with the GNC team to enable safe landing and recovery of both Starship stages.
- Main Responsibilities:
- Prepare, mesh, run, and post-process CFD models to predict aerodynamic and aerothermal performance
- Review post-flight data and compare to pre-flight estimates to ensure accuracy and safety
- Interface with responsible engineers to provide inputs to their designs and optimize system performance
- Write code and scripts in various languages to support simulation and analysis efforts
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, such as aerospace or mechanical engineering
- At least 5 years of experience with aerodynamic and aerothermal analysis
- Strong understanding of engineering models, simulations, and wind-tunnel testing
The following skills and qualifications are highly desirable:
- Master's degree or PhD in aerospace or mechanical engineering
- Experience with Siemens STAR-CCM+
- Experience with solvers used by NASA
- Experimental testing experience
- Data processing and analysis in MATLAB or Python
We are a dynamic team committed to advancing space exploration. We offer a collaborative and innovative work environment, with opportunities for professional growth and development.
