Job Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned supply chain professional to join our team as a Category Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for executing and monitoring the strategic plan for category supplies, ensuring volumes, specifications, quality, and regional risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive supply strategy that aligns with business objectives and drives growth.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, growers, and internal teams.
  • Plan, manage, and coordinate all activities related to sourcing and procurement of products needed to meet category DIFOT targets.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to determine the most cost-effective distribution solutions for customers.
  • Monitor and communicate stock levels internally to ensure rotation and product quality.
  • Research and provide recommendations on new/potential product lines or product line extensions.
  • Support the New Product Development team to identify suitable products and ensure successful launches.
  • Manage seed/breeding companies and nurseries to ensure technical support is provided to selected growers and approved nurseries, and continually improve quality on farm and GIFOTQ (Grown in Full on Time with Quality).
  • Evaluate and ensure efficient allocation and weekly balancing of returnable packaging.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a similar role in fresh produce is essential.
  • Solid experience dealing and maintaining relationships with 3rd party growers.
  • Business planning skills and execution capabilities to deliver customer expectations and specifications.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • A self-starter who is a team player; pro-active, persuasive, and flexible attitude.
  • Tertiary qualifications in agriculture, horticulture, or related discipline; preferred but not required.
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Ability to travel as required.
