About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at NSW Health Pathology. As a Scientific Officer, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality laboratory services and contributing to the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver a range of operational laboratory activities, including coordination and provision of scientific and technical training.
  • Review, develop, and quality manage laboratory practices to ensure compliance with operational standards and procedures.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure effective communication and coordination of laboratory services.
  • Develop and implement quality control systems to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of laboratory policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor Degree or higher degree in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the delivery of pathology services, including use of Laboratory Information Systems, Patient Systems, and Quality Control Systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, patients, and clinical and laboratory staff.
  • Ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner, managing competing priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Sound understanding of legislation, policies, and requirements that impact the laboratory environment, including work health and safety and privacy requirements.
