About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at NSW Health. As a Scientific Officer, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality laboratory services and contributing to the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver a range of operational laboratory activities, including coordination and provision of scientific and technical training.
  • Review, develop, and quality manage laboratory practices to ensure compliance with operational standards and procedures.
  • Use Laboratory Information Systems, Patient Systems, and Quality Control Systems to ensure accurate and efficient laboratory services.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, patients, and clinical and laboratory staff to provide excellent customer service.
  • Work in a responsible and efficient manner, managing competing priorities to meet deadlines and contribute to a team environment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor Degree or higher degree in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the delivery of pathology services, including use of computer programs such as Microsoft Office suite.
  • Customer-focused approach, displaying well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner, managing competing priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment while working autonomously to deliver results within specified timeframes.
