About the Belmont Desal project:
A 30 ML/d seawater desalination plant will be built at Belmont South NSW, providing a stable water supply to the lower Hunter region, independent of weather conditions.
This project is significant, being one of the largest capital projects in the water sector in the Hunter region. It aims to deliver a sustainable outcome for the community, aligning with Hunter Water's goal of achieving an IS Rating as part of its Carbon Neutral Strategy by 2035.
Job Overview:You'll be responsible for efficiently managing commercial activities and minimizing contractual issues and disputes from the initial tender to subcontract completion and closeout.
This is a full-time site-based role located in Newcastle, NSW.
Main Responsibilities:- Review and compile tender packages.
- Negotiate subcontract terms and conditions with subcontractors.
- Manage the review process to ensure timely and budgeted subcontract awards.
- Maintain project procurement schedules and subcontract registers.
- Monitor and report cost issues to project management.
- Evaluate commercial and contractual risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Verify compliance and prepare reporting on subcontract performance.
- Ensure accurate valuation and assessment of progress claims.
- Maintain commercial and subcontract systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Law, Commerce, Accounting, or equivalent.
- CA/CPA certification.
- Previous experience as a Contracts Administrator within the engineering and construction industry.
- Experience with various project values and complexities, including subcontractor negotiations.
- Skills to interpret and apply relevant legislation/code on the project to prevent potential business exposure.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in relevant software packages such as Microsoft Suite (including Excel) and exposure to a contract management system (CRM).
- The ability to work on-site in the south of Newcastle at Belmont.
