Leading Academic Engagement at UNSW

The Associate Director, Academic Engagement plays a pivotal role in UNSW's Library, spearheading the delivery of exceptional teaching and outreach services that align with the University's strategic objectives.

This leadership position oversees staff who collaborate with Faculties and Schools to connect academics with Library resources, ensuring alignment with the University's goals. Focused on enhancing digital literacy and study skills, the Associate Director develops and implements teaching services based on the Library's Digital Information Skills Framework.

This role involves strategic planning, resource management, and building stakeholder networks to deliver innovative Library services. The position manages two of the four Academic Engagement teams, reports to the Director of Information Services, and supervises two direct reports.

Your Background and Qualifications

  • A relevant postgraduate qualification and extensive experience at a management level within an academic library are essential for this role.
  • Substantial experience in planning, delivering, and evaluating high-quality library services is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively and positively manage and lead people and teams in a changing environment is crucial.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining collaborative partnerships with various stakeholders and capacity to engage effectively across UNSW is necessary.
  • Sound understanding of relevant pedagogies and educational technologies and their application in the higher education sector is vital.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with a high-level of attention to detail for deliverables produced, are also required.

Salary and Benefits

The successful candidate can expect a competitive salary, estimated at $140,000 - $170,000 per annum, depending on experience.
